NEWS
Fall, 2009
• We are currently building an energy
efficient home in Berks county, and are in the planning phase for
2 more homes for later this year or early Spring.
• Creswell and Company is currently working with a client
on the design of a passive house to be built in Chester County.
The house is targeted to be a net zero energy home, and would be
the first home to meet passive house standards in our state.
• In March of 2009 Creswell and Company accepted the United
States D.O.E. "builders challenge" to build more energy
efficient
homes and signed up as a partner; we were the 6th home building
company in the state of PA to sign up for the program.
We have committed to building homes that meet or exceed the program
goals and have already completed one home
that is being rated.
• Creswell and Company entered the Koenig Residence into the
Energy Value Housing Awards program in June. This program
is run by the D.O.E. and the NAHB. Our submission was approximately
200 pages and we entered in the custom homes and
median temperature region. We will hear results late in 2009.
• Brian Creswell represented Creswell and Company, by speaking
at "Building for Soul" on July 10th in Malvern, PA.
The event was a building round table discussion with several local
architects, natural & green builders, furniture makers
and museum curators, attended by a select group of individuals.
The event focussed on issues facing the building community
today especially in regards to "green" and sustainability.
Based on the appeal of the first event, another event is planned.
